While much has changed in the restaurant industry, our farming operation has remained the same. As we approach Phase Two of the Massachusetts re-opening plan with limited seating in our restaurants, we are pleased to offer additional shares for our Gibbet Hill Farm CSA. Shares are limited!
Gibbet Hill Farm CSA 2020
WHEN: June 11th – October 22nd, 2020; Thursdays from 2pm – 6pm
WHAT: 20 full shares (20 weeks)
WHERE: Pick up location is Gibbet Hill Farm in the bull barn
CSA stands for “community-supported agriculture”. At Gibbet Hill Farm we grow the highest quality seasonal produce for the Webber Restaurant Group restaurants and we are pleased to offer the community an opportunity to join us as CSA members. We focus on growing beautiful, high quality produce, that is nutrient dense and “beyond organic” (free of all conventional and organic pesticides/herbicides). Our farm staff has over 25 years of experience growing organic vegetables. With your investment in the farm, you will see a return on your dollar, as it is our goal to grow and distribute more produce for members.
Beginning on June 11th members can pick up their produce share at the Gibbet Hill Farm bull barn, located right behind the Gibbet Hill Grill. Each week, our farmers harvest a variety of different crops, and will offer you a pre-packaged bag or box of produce. Amounts available for each crop will be predetermined by our farmer. CSA members enter into a deal with the farmer that they will weather the storm of the season. Meaning if the farm thrives the share will thrive, if certain crops fail then the members might feel that as well. Some crops may be limited, and others abundant, depending on the week and weather.
Some weeks, members can round out their weekly share with an array of pick your own herbs.
Our full share is a weekly share containing 8-15 beyond organic crops in a combination of individual items, bunches or weighted foods. A full share is a great amount of produce for a family of 2-4, depending on how much you cook at home. Includes pick your own herbs.
WHAT IF I CAN’T PICK UP?
If you know in advance that you will not be able to pick up your share at anytime during a given week, you may arrange for a friend or family member to pick up your share in your place. A CSA member may not pick up more than one share per week even if the previous week’s share was not picked up.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PYO (‘pick your own’) CROPS?
Pick your own crops include; herbs (dill, basil, cilantro, parsley) and flowers (for flower share holders).
WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM LATE OR MISS PICKING UP MY SHARE WITHOUT NOTIFYING THE FARMERS?
If you can’t make it in time to pick-up your CSA Share, contact the farm, members will be given contact information for the farm team member who will be coordinating each week. They may be able to keep it inside until the next day. If they don’t hear from you before the pick-up time ends, shares will not be held. . There are no refunds for missed pick-ups or forgotten shares.
CAN SOMEONE ELSE PICK UP MY SHARE?
Yes. We don’t need to know that someone else will pick up your share! Just make sure that your friend checks in with our distribution coordinator under your name. If they are not familiar with our CSA, please ask them to read these Frequently Asked Questions.
